Palinggat Oord is not a retirement village! People of all ages – families, couples as well as single persons, live peacefully together inside these palisades.

New residents soon discover the privilege of living in a place such as Palinggat Oord. Not only do they wake up hearing a variety of birdsong, but they also see them nesting and feeding. From time to time the odd tortoise, hare or even small deer can be observed browsing inside the palisades.

All the gates are monitored by CCTV cameras and only residents have remote control devices to open the gates. Management is serious about the safety and well-being of the residents, thus they constantly investigate the best ways to ensure their security.

It is safe to walk around in the Resort, even at night what with strategically placed lights lighting up the entire area all through the night. Only approximately 20% of the homes are permanently inhabited. Consequently, when it is off-season life in Palinggat Oord reflects the quiet, peaceful and calm nature of Stilbaai.

Something should be mentioned about the excellent location of the Resort. It is situated within walking distance from a grocery store along with other shops. Also the Community Hall, Municipal Offices, Library, Goukou River mouth and the Palinggat where they hand feed the eels, to name but a few.
